Andrew James Hicks was born March 1, 1983, to Bill and Gail (Schwarz) Hicks in Denison, Iowa. He was raised in Dunlap and graduated from Boyer Valley High School in 2001. He then attended Iowa Western Community College and graduated in 2003 from the Automotive Mechanics Program. Andrew worked for Anderson Auto Group in Missouri Valley, the Dunlap Livestock Auction, Dunlap Farmers' Coop, and most recently at Ampride where he operated the tire service truck. Andrew married Cassie Swenson on September 24, 2011, at the Ocheyedan United Methodist Church. The couple lived in Dunlap.
Andrew was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He loved auto racing and he drove a stock car at the Harlan and Denison tracks. He also enjoyed golfing and hunting.
Andrew died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at the Crawford County Hospital in Denison at the age of 30 years, four months, and two days.
