Darius Ray McCormick, age 93, of Mt. Vernon, IL, formerly of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 in his home.

Darius was born on July 20, 1919 in McCormick, IL, a son to Alfred Ray and Bertie Cloe (Stone) McCormick. On October 5, 1945, he married Gertrude Lorene Borman in Paducah, KY and she survives. Darius was a Corporal in the United States Army Air Corp, proudly serving his country during WW II. He was a press room supervisor for Decca Records, Pinckneyville, IL for 26 years. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church, Pinckneyville, IL, the Mason's and Eastern Star. Darius enjoyed woodworking, camping, hunting and fishing and dearly loved his family.

Survivors include his wife of over 67 years, Gertrude Lorene McCormick of Mt. Vernon, IL; one daughter, Sue Ray McCormick of Pinckneyville, IL; two granddaughters, Bobbi Ann (Kevin) Green of Nason, IL and Rhonda Rae Pierce of Pinckneyville, IL; six great grandchildren, Thomas Brandon Wade (significant other, Sidney House), Elizabeth Lorene Wade, Haley Summer Green, Delaney Nicole Pierce, Vanessa Rae Pierce and Lucy Lynn (Blake) Eisenhauer; and great-great-grandchildren, Danica Ann Wade, Emily Michelle Wade, Sallie L. Eisenhauer and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen McCormick Dunkirk; a brother, Arthur Glen "Art" McCormick; and a great-grandson, Kevin John Green.

Funeral services will be held at the First Pentecostal Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend J. Mark Harris, Sr. and Reverend Duane Bolinger officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin, IL with graveside military rites provided by the DuQuoin V.F.W. and American Legion, DuQuoin, IL.

Friends may call at First Pentecostal Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
