Mary A. Thumma, 85, of 17600 Broadfording Road, Hagerstown, died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at Avalon Manor Health Care Center. Born May 29, 1914, in Fiddlersburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late Clarence Albert and Emma Elizabeth Hartman Williams.
She retired in 1975 from Hagerstown Shoe Company after 35 years of service. She attended Shiloh United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Peggy I. Reid of Hagerstown; one granddaughter, Traci L. Hassler of Hagerstown; one grandson, Ronald L. Reid of Big Pool; two grandsons, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Mae Grove and Helen Johnson and four brothers, Richard Williams, Albert Williams, Fred Williams and Bud Williams.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
