Blaine Orin Wood passed away November 28, 1999 at his home in Murray, Utah.

Blaine was born on May 8, 1966 in Murray, Utah, the fourth child of O. Lew and Yvonne Silva Wood. As a youth he was very active in sports and outdoor recreation. Blaine loved science and electronics.

When he was 13 Blaine earned his Eagle Scout award. He graduated from Murray High School in 1984 where he excelled in basketball and baseball and was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. Blaine played basketball at the Salt Lake Community College. He later became actively involved in adult competitive softball where he spent many happy hours and had many close, caring friends. Blaine graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration. He was a member of Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Fraternity. He was employed in the health information industry as a director of health information reporting.

Blaine fulfilled an honorable mission for the LDS Church in Coventry, England. He was active in the LDS Church and was currently serving as a Primary Teacher in his LDS ward.

Blaine married Sydney Holmes on March 16, 1990 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents of two children, Jackson and Rachel Wood. Blaine was a loving, caring and devoted father. He deeply loved his children. He spent many enjoyable hours watching his children play baseball and soccer. His children were his life.

Blaine was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew and friend. He enjoyed playing with his nieces and nephews. He was kind, warm-hearted and witty. Everyone looked up to him. He was loved by all that knew him. He will leave a void in our lives that can never be filled.

Blaine is survived by his children, Jackson (8) and Rachel (6) and their mother, Syd; his parents, O. Lew and Yvonne Wood, of Murray; his sisters, Sharla (Bryan) Williamson, Ripon, California, and Sherri Germaine, Provo; his brother, Brent (Cheryl) Wood, Bountiful; his grandparents, Lu Wayne and Violet Wood, St. George; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and by his devoted friend, Laurie Howland. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles Silva and Mildred Christensen, and by his brother-in-law, David Germaine.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 3, 1999, 12 noon in the Homestead LDS Ward, 5735 So. Fashion Blvd (300 E.), where friends may call from 10:15-11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Murray City Cemetery under the direction of Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary.

Thank you Blaine for a life well lived and for all of the love you gave to us so willingly.
