Carl Edwin Anders, 79, of Jonesboro, died Monday evening, June 15, 2009, at his home of natural causes. Carl was born on December 16, 1929 in New Liberty, Arkansas, near Blytheville.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Elizabeth Joyce Anders, his first wife Dorothy Faye Warren Anders, his daughter Brenda Faye Davolt, his son, Dennis Anders, and his sisters, Maxine Hicks and Shirley Wilson.

Carl is survived by his wife of 39 years, Shirley Murray Atwood Anders of the home, and daughters Joanne Martin and her spouse, Phil Martin of Waxhaw, North Carolina, and Ellen Hynes and her spouse, Avery Hynes of Carthage, Missouri; one sister, Betty Sellars of Tampa, Florida, and one brother, Larry Andrews of Tampa; 10 grandchildren: Brian Anders, Charles Devolt, Stacy DeBoard, Crystal Brown, Ryan Martin, Kyle Martin, Zack Martin, Jaryd Hynes, Haley Hynes, and Larry Hynes, and 9 great grandchildren.

He was an ordained Assemblies of God minister and was a pastor for 42 years serving churches in Arkansas, Tennessee, and Alabama. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Jonesboro and served on staff of First Assembly of God for 7 years as Senior Adult Pastor and in Pastoral Care. He was a graduate of the Berean School of the Bible and of Arkansas State University.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Rev. Matt Smith and Kenneth Doke officiating with a special presentation by Chandra Davis. Burial will follow in Mississippi County Memorial Gardens in Osceola.

Active pallbearers include Jim Fisher, David Harrin, Rick McDaniel, Frank Jowers, Glenn McManners, and Whitney Williams.

Honorary pallbearers include The Pacesetters Senior Adults and the deacons and staff of First Assembly of God in Jonesboro.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening, 6-8, at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
