HERRIN -- Lily Pearl Hill, 94, passed away at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Herrin Hospital.

Lily was born March 17, 1919, in Commerce, Mo., to Frank and Leva (Wright) Hale.

She married Murle Hill on Aug. 23, 1947, in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death March 20, 2004.

Lily worked as a cook for more than 30 years at Rainbow Drive Inn in Scott City, Mo.

She was devoted to her family and churches. Lily most recently attended First Freewill Baptist Church in Johnston City. She enjoyed Sing-spiration at the nursing home with her son, Kenneth, spending time studying scriptures and writing Christian poetry.

Survivors include son, Loyd Tipsword and wife, Arlene of Scott City, Mo.; daughters, Arvilla Hout and husband, Larry, of Moline, and Malissa Miller and husband, Dave, of Herrin; sons, Dwayne Hill of Johnston City and Kenneth Hill and Peggy Pierce of Elkville; 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; sister, Golda Lindeman of Scott City, Mo.; sister-in-law, Marie Littlepage of Jackson, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Stefan Hill and Mack Hill Jr. and three grandsons, Scott Tipsword, Alan Hill and Joseph Hill.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 12, at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, with the Rev. Keith Fletcher officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City, Mo. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home, 201 S. 13th St., Herrin, IL 62948.
