Born on May 12, 1920, in Liverpool, Perry County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Laura B. (Bey) Zaring. On Dec. 16, 1950, she married her husband, Leonard R. Zellers, with whom she spent more than 62 years of marriage, before he preceded her in death on June 23, 2013.
Surviving are: her daughters, Elaine Z. Amey and her husband, Ed, of Thompsontown, and Rebecca Spencer and her husband, David, of New Columbia; three grandsons, David B. Spencer, Anthony E. Spencer and Matthew R. Spencer; and she leaves behind five great- grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were four sisters.
Mrs. Zellers was a 1937 graduate of Liverpool High School, a member of Liverpool United Methodist Church and a former member of the Liverpool Civic Club.
In earlier life, she was employed as a telephone operator in Liverpool and later assisted her husband in operating Zellers' Gulf Station, Newport.
Virginia enjoyed traveling to the shore and wintering in Florida with her husband.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with the Rev. Paul Kauffman officiating. Interment will be in St. John (Barner's) Cemetery, Liverpool.
A viewing will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service Monday, at the funeral home.
