Jackson Oliver Perrin (his branch of the family changed their name from Perrin to Perren) was the only child of William Perrin of Abbeville District, South Carolina and Mary BALLINGER Perrin of Spartanburg Co., South Carolina. Married about 1815, they lived in Spartanburg, where Jackson was born. The marriage was brief, however, as his parents soon separated. Jackson, with his mother and members of her family, moved from South Carolina and settled in Missouri, where the Edward Ballenger family appears on tax lists as early as 1821 in Boone County, Missouri. William Perrin, Jackson's father, remained in South Carolina, where he died in 1828. In the 1830 USC the family of Edward Ballenger, Jackson's grandfather, was living next door to Isaiah Austin, in Boone County, who became Jackson's stepfather about that time. By 1840, Jackson had moved with his stepfather and mother to Livingston County, where Jackson settled, married, and raised his family. Jackson Perrin married Elizabeth Pettigrew on 3 August 1843 at Livingston Co., Missouri. They were the parents of 10 children. In 1874 Jackson Perrin donated the land on which the Union Baptist Church of Livingston County was built.
