William Robert Quessenberry, son of Ramie Guy and Florence Thelma Hart Quessenberry, was born March 25, 1933 in Macomb, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, July 7, 2013 in Rocky Ridge Manor, Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-years, three months, and twelve days.
On December 24, 1971, Bill was united in marriage to Yvonne Russell and together they have shared the past forty-one years.
His parents, and a sister, Wanda Quessenberry, preceded Bill in death.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; children, Steve Quessenberry and wife Lisa, Randy Quessenberry and wife Marsha, Billy Quessenberry and wife Cheryl, Sandra Fowler and husband Mark, Lance Quessenberry and wife Darla, and Leah Barnes and husband Michael; grandchildren, Derek Quessenberry, Tanea Hurst and husband Derrick, Bethany and Kaelyn Quessenberry, Keyler Quessenberry, Alea Fowler, Kendall and Cooper Barnes; a great-granddaughter, Coraline Hurst, a brother Sam Quessenberry and wife Lola; the mother of his first four born children, Rosalee Mitchell; a niece Serena Spivey; a nephew, Mark Quessenberry; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Bill was raised in Macomb, Missouri and was a graduate of Mansfield High School in the Class of 1952. Following his graduation, Bill entered into the United States Army in 1954 and served until being honorably discharged in 1956. Bill operated a service station in Macomb for a short period before enrolling in Molar Barber College in Kansas City, Missouri. Upon graduation from Barber College, Bill moved to Hartville in January of 1961 and purchased a barbershop. He owned and operated Bill's Barber Shop in Hartville until 1987 at which time; he began a career as a full-time carpenter and did so until his health permitted him from doing so.
Bill was very involved in the Hartville Community, serving on the Hartville School Board and as County Commissioner from 1986 to 1988 and again from 1990 to 1994. He helped to build countless homes and churches in the area, and was in charge of the complete restoration of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in the early 1990's. Bill could do anything and if he couldn't, he would learn how. From a barber to a watch repairman, to a skilled carpenter, Bill was truly a "Jack of All Trades."
He was a member of the Hartville Free Will Baptist Church and served as a Trustee for many years. Bill took great pride in all of his work however, according to him; his greatest achievement was construction and completion of the new Free Will Baptist Church.
Bill took great pride in watching his children play sports. He was involved with the Hartville Little League program for several years and was also a member of the Hartville Lions Club and the Elmer O. Sellers American Legion Post #45.
Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends.
