Martha Watkins was born on January 15, 1715 in a plantation on the Blackwater River in Halifax County, Virginia. Her parents were Samuel and Mary Wright Watkins. Martha married James Standifer on October 6, 1737 in Baltimore County, Maryland. After their marriage, they were supposedly neighbors of Patrick Henry. Martha and James had ten children. Around 1747, they moved to the Blackwater River area. James died in 1807, Martha died In Franklin County, Virginia in 1817.
