Obituary: John Devine is Called - Waseca County Herald - 24 Feb 1927

John Devine, whose health had been failing during the past year, died Sunday night [Feb.21, 1927] at his home just north of the Waseca city limits. Death was due to the infirmities of old age.

Deceased was born at Delevan, Wis., on Dec. 1855. At the age of two years he came with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Devine, to Waseca County which has since been his home. He lived on his farm in Iosco until seven years ago, when he purchased a Waseca home and has been a resident of this community since. During his ling residence in this county he proved himself a worthwhile citizen and enjoyed the confidence and respect of all who knew him.

On May 9th, 1881, he was married to Rose Morgan at St. Jarlath's church in Iosco. Besides his widow he is survived by five children, Mrs. John Sexton of Woodville; Thomas Devine of Elysian; John J. Devine of St. Paul; Mrs. Chas Eisen of Watertown, S.D. and Miss Mary Devine, at home. There are also two half-brothers, Daniel Devine of Waterville and Thomas Devine of Lavina, Mont.

Following the services from the Waseca Catholic church, the remains were taken to the family lot in St. Jarlath's cemetery, Iosco, for interment. Waseca (County) Herald, Feb. 24, 1927
