Following her father-in-law John Beard’s death, Amy and George operated the family grocery store in Northport until they retired in 1975.
The couple moved to Yelm, Wash., where they resided until George’s death on Nov. 5, 1980. Amy then split her time between Yelm and Colorado. She was an active member in the Yelm Methodist Church and enjoyed studying genealogy.
Amy is survived by her children, Anne “Irene” Stanhope, Elsie F. Luck, Jacqueline M. Henneke; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, Dale and John “Howard” Beard.
Visitation will be held at Mills & Mills Funeral Home, Thursday, July 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. Graveside services will be Friday, July 8, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the Yelm Cemetery.
