Virginia Lee Bobadilla, 69, of Redwood City, surrounded by her loving husband, sons and other family members, went peacefully into rest on June 21, 2013. A woman with a strong and determined personality and a tremendous sense of humor, Virginia remained positive and displayed incredible strength and a never-ending will to survive in the face of her 25-year physical and emotional battle with Multiple Sclerosis and other various ailments.
Virginia was born on March 17th, 1944, in San Francisco, California, the second of five children to the late Lillian Wirth and the late Max Albert Dymond. Outside of a few years in San Francisco, Sacramento and San Carlos, Virginia spent the majority of her life in Redwood City. She attended Mount Carmel and graduated from Sequoia High School in 1962.
Virginia earned an AA degree from the College of San Mateo. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from San Francisco State University in 1969. While attending SF State, she found her true calling in education and continued on to earn her teaching credential in 1970. She spent the next 25 years in education, shaping the character and minds of elementary school children throughout the San Carlos School district. She retired from fulltime teaching in 1996, but continued to support her colleagues and friends in the school district as a substitute for several years. An avid reader, bird watcher, crafter, gardener, Virginia spent her retirement years enjoying her life interests and supporting her family and pets.
Virginia's life is celebrated now and will be for many years by her family and friends. She's survived by her loving husband of 37 years Frank Bobadilla: sons and spouses Sean and Kathy Huss, San Carlos, Michael and Avianca Bobadilla, Redwood City, Matthew Bobadilla, San Francisco, and Frank and Karla Bobadilla, San Francisco: her grandchildren Sydney, Hunter and Lyndsey Huss, Alexander Bobadilla, Sophia and Jack Bobadilla: and her siblings Rosemarie Sipple, Albert Dymond, Cheryl Avila and Lynda Goines.
