Betty Hovis Langdon Beightol Worked as secretary for Messiah Lutheran Church
Betty Beightol, 85, of Erie, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at Ball Pavilion, Harborcreek Township, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 1, 1917, in Youngstown, Ohio, daughter of the late J. Lee and Grace Hovis. She lived in Erie since 1958.
She worked as a secretary for Messiah Lutheran Church in the 1960s and 70s. She formerly worked as a residential real estate agent.
She graduated from Oil City High School.
She was a member of several organizations at Messiah Lutheran Church. She enjoyed square dancing in her youth, and designing houses and playing bridge.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, LaVerne C. Langdon; and her second husband, Kenneth D. Beightol.
Survivors include two sons, Philip Langdon of New Haven, Conn., and Scott Langdon of Grifton, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dusckas Funeral Home East, 2607 Buffalo Road. A service will be held there Friday at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at Lamey Cemetery, Oil City.
