De Atley & Spangler Deal in Hardware, Buggies, Farm Implements and Coal

A. E. De Atley was born in Illinois. He came to Boone County, Indiana in 1871. After graduating from the public schools, he returned to Illinois and engaged in the farming industry. A year or two later he concluded that Boone County held an attraction for him that was not to be found in his native
state. He returned in 1885 and was married to Miss Sarah E. Ragsdale. He continued in the farming industry until 1898, when he was appointed postmaster of Lizton. In December of 1903, he purchased with Mr. H. C. Spangler the entire stock of M. W. Dowden & Co. DeAtley & Spangler have the agency of the Laurel Steel Range, the Twentieth Century Heater, The Favorite
and the Vapor Light Gasoline Stove.

Alfred E. Deatley, age 69, died at his farm home three miles northwest of Pittsboro, Monday. He was born in Illinois, January 21, 1866. He was married to Sarah E. Ragsdale in 1885. In addition to the widow, he is survived by a son, Jewell R. Deatley. Mr. Deatley was a member of the Pittsboro Christian church and Lizton Castle of the Knights of Pythias. Services were at the home Wednesday at 8 p.m., the Rev. D. Lee Andrews in charge. Burial was in the K. of P. cemetery at Lizton.
