Josiah Brown, Jr was born to Josiah Brown and his unknown wife in the Sutton area around 1765. He was one of 9 children born to the wife/wives of Josiah before 1783 or so. We have not yet found any birth records for those nine children, but their father's Probate file and land deed files in Worcester County, MA fill in the facts of those nine children.

Josiah married Sally Mahan on 23 Nov 1790 in Worcester, Worcester, MA according to marriage records. Josiah and Sally appear in several of the family's land deeds.

This family had many prominent men who fought at Lexington and Concord at the start of the Revolution, including the John Brown who died at Lexington. We have not yet found proof of military records for this Josiah. The John Brown who died at Lexington was a first cousin to Josiah, through their fathers being brothers.

These men were the Great-grandsons of the English immigrants John and H/Ester (Makepeace) Brown and the Grandsons of Joseph and Rhuhamah (Wellington) Brown.
