Patsy Jean Berry, 62, passed away July 3, 2013 in Wichita Falls. She was born February 8, 1951 in Wichita Falls to A. L. Sims and Mamie Ellen Steward Sims.

She was a Baptist and member of the Texoma Cowboy Church, and was an activity director for several nursing homes and was instrumental in starting the Sr. Olympics before her retirement.

As a child Patsy enjoyed dancing, music and many lakeside activities. Upon leaving high school she ventured to Dallas, Texas where she worked as a beautician and a waitress. In 1974 she reunited with her soul mate, which was home on leave from the Navy. They then moved to California where they had a son, after leaving the military, they moved back to Wichita Falls, then to Iowa Park. Patsy resumed her work as a waitress, then she became an activity director at an area nursing home, there she discovered her real passion of working with seniors, which she did for several years before her own health problems started. Patsy was diagnosed with cancer, with which she fought a long hard fight. During this struggle she renewed her love of music. She and her husband got involved in the early Texas/Redirect music movement. The allowed the joy of music to subdue her pain. Patsy traveled, promoted, encouraged her brand of music, helping it spread to a larger audience. Patsy adopted many musicians and family members earning the title of "Red Dirt Road MOM." Through out these years she had also become an avid Dallas Stars, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Cowboys fan. She was called home by God on July 3, 2013 as her work was done on Earth. She will be remembered and loved by all those lives that she touched.

A celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later date.

In death Patsy rejoined her Mother and Father, her brothers Floyd Durwood, Billy Don, and a sister Billie Oneida.

Patsy is survived by her husband Ronald W. Berry, her son Ronald L. Berry, brothers Tony Via, Kenneth Via, and Glen Williams, a sister Lena Williams, as well as several nieces and nephews, and many adopted children and family members of the Texas Red Dirt Communities.

The family requests in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
