MY GREAT-GRANDFATHER...

George and Amanda (Hurst) Bunch settled in "Bunchtown" and had 9 children. Life was very hard. The family lived in Bunchtown until 1933, when TVA was established, came through and bought all the land in the area and forced families to spread out over East Tennessee, The only thing remaining in "Bunchtown" today is a large cemetery, which is visited and maintained periodically.

PARENTS:
Martin Van Bunch (Born: 9-1836),
and Mary Jane (Hopson)Bunch. (Mary was Born: 7-1838.)
They were married 2-2-1856.

1900 census, Claiborne dist 8. hh. 287. Martin Bunch, born Sept 1836. age 63, married 44 years. wife is Mary, born July 1838.
She has born 13 children, 12 are living.
In the home are Lien A Bunch, dtr, born Dec 1883,
Sallie Hurst, dtr, born Jan 1878,
and Sallie's children Myrtle bn Dec 1895 and Lettie born May 1899.
Claiborne marriages, 1838-1935. (just names & the year of marriage, also the book & page number that they appear in the courthouse records).
In 1894 Salley Bunch was married to John Hurst.

GRANDPARENTS:
James Martin, (Born-1799, died-12-16-1882), and
Isabel (Taylor), (Born- Abt. 1810) Bunch,
they lived in Grainger County, Tennessee in 1799.

SISTERS AND BROTHERS:
Nancy Jane, Born-abt. 1856,
Millie, born-abt. 1858,
Richard Edgar, born-abt. 1886,
Isabella, born- abt. 1862.

JOHN BUNCH:
George's 5th Great-Grandfather: Born-1636 in England, Died-1700, wife Mary...
Arrived and settled in Lancaster County, VA in 1651.
2nd Great-Grandson of John and Mary:
Joseph Martin Bunch , born, June 15, 1749, and married (in 1783) Mary Ann (Eckhols)Bunch.
Moved to Claiborne County, Tennessee in 1805.
They settled on the CLINCH RIVER and established "BUNCHTOWN." They had 12 children.
