Ulis S. "Andy" Anderson

Ulis S. "Andy" Anderson, 67, Topeka, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, at a Lawrence hospital.

Mr. Anderson worked several years for the Chrysler Corp. in St. Louis. He later served on the board of directors of the Fox Ridge Townhouses in Topeka. He was an Army veteran and an Air Force veteran. He served as a military policeman and rose to the rank of Tech. Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Korean War.

He was born Oct. 9, 1929, in Corning, Ark., the son of Murvin William and Versie Evelyn Haley. He attended Washburn University. He had lived in Topeka since 1970.

Mr. Anderson was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Topeka, Philip Billard Post No. 1650 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion.

He was married to Wilma Maxine Earl on March 29, 1952, in Topeka. She died Jan. 5, 1969. A son, Gregory Alan Anderson, died July 18, 1968.
Survivors include a son, Gary Lee Anderson, St. Louis; a daughter, Debra Lynn Hamlin, Lawrence; a sister, Mamie Leonard, While Plains, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Post No. 1650 of the VFW will conduct military honors. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Church, 312 W. 5th, Holton, 66436.
