The Steele Mansion, circa 1900. It was built by E.C. Steele in the latter 1800s and still sits on the bluff overlooking Hartville.
The house was built well after the Civil War and E.C. Steele was a Union soldier during the war, who hailed from Illinois. He died in the early 1900s from pneumonia he contracted after herding his cows in a snowstorm. Steele Memorial Cemetery is named after him.
