Cecil William Akers, the son of Oscar and Cora (Brand) Akers was born October 31, 1925 at Gravity, Iowa. He died after a lengthy illness at Veterans Medical Center, Omaha, NE on April 7, 1994 at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 7 days. He was raised in the Gravity community and lived in Shenandoah before moving to Red Oak in 1970. He was united in marriage to Clara L. Vaughan in 1945, they had four children. He later married Jean Gray on May 26, 1967 at Nebraska City, NE. He served his country in the United State Navy. He was a carpenter and loved to work with wood. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant daughter, Terase Lee, 2 sisters and a brother.

Cecil is survived by his wife Jean Akers of Red Oak, Iowa; 3 sons, Richard W. Akers and his wife Sheila of Shenandoah, Iowa, Tom Akers and his wife Sue of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Steven Akers and his wife Sherry of Red Oak, Iowa; a daughter, Linda L. Mitchell of Phoenix, Arizona; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-granddaughters. 7 sisters, Hazel Sexton of Lenox, Iowa, Hattie Clark and Gertrude Weil both of Villisca, Evelyn Thompson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Bernita Ritnour of Omaha, NE, Edna Posten of Gravity, Iowa and Coryal Bollinger of Union Star, Missouri.

Also by other relatives and many friends. May God bless his memory and give strength to those who mourn.
