Eleanor Scanlon of Fontana passed away Wednesday, June 26 at Vista Cove Care Center in Rialto. She was 87, just two weeks short of her 88th birthday.
Eleanor, a native of Portage, Pennsylvania, called Fontana home for more than 67 years, where she was a homemaker and was an active parishoner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church (where she married Walter Scanlon in January 1947), Girl Scouts of America and Catholic Daughters of America.
Survivors include her three children, Kathy Slider (Jim), Tim Scanlon (Cary) and Wally Scanlon (Cathy); and sisters, Alice Hobgood and Theresa Price. Eleanor was also a loving grandma to Jeffery, Denise, Andrew, Tamra, Kendra, Parker and Colby and a great grandma to 12 great- grandchildren, as well as many other loving family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be on Sunday, July 7 from 5 to 8 p.m., with Rosary recital at 6 p.m. at Ingold Funeral Chapel, 8277 Juniper Avenue in Fontana. Funeral Mass will be the following morning, Monday, July 8 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 17080 Arrow Boulevard in Fontana. Interment will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park, Bloomington.
