MITCHELL, Nicholas Theodore, age 92 of Southfield, was born on January 28, 1921 in Newport News, Virginia. His parents were Theodore and Sophia (nee Demegis) Mitchell and they were of Greek descent. Nick died on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Trowbridge Senior Living in Southfield, MI. Nick was a resident of Southfield and a former resident of Royal Oak and Bloomfield Village. He was a graduate of Detroit's Cass Tech High School.
He was P51 Mustang Fighter pilot in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. Longtime owner and operator of Liberty Cleaners, Birmingham that was founded by his father in 1928. He was formerly an active member of the Kiwanis Club and a former member of the Board of Directors for St. George Greek Orthodox Church. He was a handyman "Mr. Fix it" and enjoyed travel, reading and gardening.
Beloved husband of Grace Mitchell (nee Elsivitias) and they were married for 68 years. Dear father of Theodore "Ted" Mitchell (Kathy), Gregory "Pete" Mitchell (Athina) and Mark Mitchell (Martha), also 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Gus, Mike and George. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
