Rose Ella Abbott Patterson, age 85 of Oneida, departed this life on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at her home. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Pine Hill United Baptist Church.Born on February 21, 1928 she was the daughter of the late Artie and Flora Rinda Angel Abbott.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Rupert Patterson; two daughters, Mary Louedia Patterson and Flossie Mae King; a son, Thomas Enos Patterson; a brother, Junior Abbott; two sisters, Selema Barns and Anna Abbott, and brother-in-law Charlie Christie.

Survivors include three sons, James Rupert Patterson, Joseph Artie Patterson and wife Jean, William Roy Patterson, all of Oneida; two daughters, Elizabeth Paulette Ellis and husband Clifton, Faye Loraine Patterson of Oneida; a brother, Acmon Abbott; three sisters, Madge Mayse, Faye Christie and Lorraine Coffey and husband Jimmy; sixteen special grandchildren; eight special step-grandchildren and several special great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Patterson family on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Patterson will lie in state from 11:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Pine Hill United Baptist Church with Bros. Delyn Phillips and Norman Burke officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Hill United Baptist Church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be William Patterson, James Patterson, Jeremy King, Lee King, Nathan Barger and Jamie Griffith.West-Murley Funeral Home is serving the family of Rose Patterson.
