WARD, Dora (nee Fotty)
December 25, 1913 ~ May 12, 2008
"An Angel came to take me home"

Dora Ward passed away peacefully on May 12, 2008 at the age of 94 years. She is now with her beloved husband Marvin, who predeceased her in 1995. Dora was an enthusiastic scholar in her early years and became a teacher in 1933, after attending Normal School in Edmonton. She taught in Alberta one-room rural schools at Wandering River, Lac La Biche, Sangudo, and Coal Valley as well as in the NWT schools at Ft. Fitzgerald and Ft. Smith. She retired from the Edmonton Public Schools in 1971, after teaching in Hazeldean and Argyl Schools. Dora met and touched many people throughout her life. To this day, some of her previous students still call her "Teacher" and often visited with her. Dora enlisted in the Army in 1944 and took her basic training in Kitchener, Ontario. She was proud of her participation in the war effort.

She is survived by three sisters: Jean Klymok, Clara Swanson and Arlene Billey; two brothers: Alec Fotty and Nick Fotty, along with numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Marvin, her three sisters: Anne Dromarsky, Virginia Martyshuk and Mary Penchuk, as well as her four brothers: Bill Fotty, George Fotty, Metro Fotty and Steve Fotty. A special thank you on behalf of Dora is extended to her friend Yvonne Durocher, her nieces Loretta Lagaden and Delsie Thachuk, and the third floor staff at the Allen Gray Continuing Care Centre for the love and care they provided Dora during her last few years.

A Celebration of Dora's Life will be held on June 6, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Hainstock's Funeral Home 9810-34th Avenue, Edmonton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute or a charity of one's choice. Hainstock's Funeral Home, 780-440-2999. Honoured Provider of Dignity Memorial.
