Teresa Ruth (Williams) Beatty, passed away on Sunday, March 13th 2005 at the Fletcher Allen Health Center in Burlington, Vt.

Teresa was born on October 15th 1926 in White Plains N.Y., the second daughter of George S. And Madeline (Griffin) Williams.

In 1935, her family moved to Burlington, Vt. and lived in the family homestead on North Winooski Avenue until her marriage.

She attended Mount Saint Mary's Grade and High School, graduating in 1945.

Teresa and John "Jack" William Beatty III were married on September 1st 1952 in the Old Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Burlington, Veront.

She developed an early interest in music while at the Mount, and during her high school years studied the flute under Mrs. Mary McNamara.

She played in the University Orchestra under the direction of Ippocrates Pappoutsakis for a short period, then joined the Burlington Military Band, which was later known as the Burlington Concert Band, in 1945 under Dr. Lechnyr, where she met Jack.

She held various offices in the band during her membership, finally retiring with Jack in 1984 after nearly forty years.

Teresa's working career began at Sears Roebuck immediately following graduation.

She worked there until the birth of her first children, twin daughters in 1953.

Teresa remained home caring for her children until 1975 then she began her career at the Grand Union store on Hinesburg Road in South Burlington, Vt. near her home which they purchased shortly after the birth of the twins.

Teresa retired from the Grand Union in 1993 after nearly nineteen years.

Since their retirement, Teresa and Jack traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada by Mini-van.

She especially enjoyed going on Ocean cruises, traveling to the West Coast to visit her youngest daughter and her family in Lake Tahoe and Joan and her family in New York state.

She was predeceased by her mother Madeline Griffin Williams in 1960, her father George S. Williams in 1975, and her sister Muriel Home in 2003.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held at St. John Vianney Church in South Burlington on Thursday, March 17th 2005 at 12:00 o'clock.
