Mrs. Opal Elizabeth Johnson, 57, 304 Gordon St., Lindale, died Wednesday at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Cherokee County, Ala. May 13, 1914, but had spent the greater part of her life here. She was the daughter of the late Mark and Willie Spears Studdard, and was a member of the Silver Creek Baptist Church. She was an employe of the WestPoint Pepperell Manufacturing Company 5 and was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
Surviving are her husband, R. E. (Bud) Johnson, Lindale; one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Mize, Rome; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Buddy Knight, Rome; two sons, Jerry Coxwell, Lindale, Lee Coxwell, Jacksonville, N.C.; one stepson, Billy Johnson, Lindale; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Gravett, Rome, Mrs. Anna Lou Jackson, Lindale, Mrs. Eunice Bright, Piedmont, Ala.; one brother, Frank Studdard, Piedmont, Ala.; 15 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Silver Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Buddy Brown and Bobby Tenney officiating. Interment will be in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the residence, where the body will be after 10 a.m. Friday. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
