Naomi Goodson Abernathy, 94, of Charlotte, died on Wednesday, September 18, 2013. She was born in Gaston County and was the daughter of the late Irven Goodson and Bessie Keener Goodson. She retired from Pelton & Crane in Charlotte and was the eldest active member of Homestead United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Adrian Abernathy. Those surviving are her children, Ned Irvin Abernathy, Don Adrian Abernathy and Carol Abernathy Davis; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank her caregivers Ida Gunn and Marie Johnson for the all their love and concern.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 20, 2013 in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West with Reverend Rodger Sellers officiating. Interment will follow the service in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to The Shriner's Children's Hospitals, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
