"Line Of Duty Death, Firefighter"

Son of Joseph E. and Rebecca "Hulliger" Evans.

Husband of Beverly I. "Lucks" Evans.

Father of Kevin A. Evans and Kim N. (Evans) Vanbuskirk.

He passed away as a result of a "Line Of Duty Death" in service with the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company.

Mr. Evans was an agricultural farmer all his life. He was also a telephone lineman first for Diamond State and then Bell Atlantic for 33 years retiring in 1998.

Mr. Evans had received the Spirit of Excellence Award from Bell Atlantic and was a member of the telephone pioneers.

He was a Life Member of the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department joining in 1964 where he was named Fireman of the Year in 1968. He had also held over the years the positions of Treasurer, Chief Engineer, Engineer, 1st Assistant Chief and Second Assistant Chief.

Mr. Evans had also held positions in several other fire organizations which included Past President of the State
Chief's Association, DelMarVa Fireman's Association, Sussex County Fire Chief's Association and Sussex County Fireman's Association as well as having served on numerous other committee appointments throughout the years.

In 1962, he was a member of the Blue Gold All Star Football team.
