Milton “Mickey” Adolph Nordahl was born in 1918 in Polk County, Minnesota to a Norwegian family. He was baptized by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America at two months old.

His father was born on Nordli Farm in Aurskog kommune, Akershus County, Norway. His mother was born in Minnesota, and her father was born in Bruvik Parish, Haus Kommune, Hordaland County, Norway.

Mickey’s father emigrated to the United States in about 1888 (based on self reporting in census records). He and his family lived in Polk County, Minnesota, USA until at least 1940, when they are found in Fertile, Polk, Minnesota, USA.

In January 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve his country during World War II. On November 21, 1944, he was wounded in action. On March 30, 1945, while serving under Captain Mann, he and four other men made up a five man infantry combat team that—with two tanks—cleaned up the town of Bredelar, Germany, while rescuing two Americans. On September 29, 1945, he was released from service.

After World War II, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where much of his family lived. In about 1951, he married Savola Ellen Banks.

By 1953, they were living in Richmond, California. Mickey and Savola owned Mickey’s 13 Club on 13th near Richmond, CA.

In 1971, they were living in Martinez, California, on Berrellesa Street.

In about 1973, Mickey and Savola moved to Pittsburg, California to a larger home to raise young Rachel Sue, Savola's grandaughter by birth, and daughter by upbringing. Their home there was a family home, with grandchildren often staying the night—sleeping on a pallet on the floor—and family often dropping by unannounced for a visit. Many episodes of Hee Haw, Rawhide and Hill Street Blues were watched with a grandchild sitting on someone’s lap. And, a jazz band would sometimes practice downstairs. All of the grandkids loved to make fresh squeezed orange juice using oranges from the tree outside.

In the late 1980’s, Mickey and Savola moved to Sonora, California and spent their last years together in a little valley in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. In 1988, Mickey died at home in Sonora, and was laid to rest at Mountain Shadow Cemetery.

His family members today mostly live in northern California and in Oklahoma. He likely has cousins in Minnesota.
