Born in Russia as Natasha Leslie. Soviet-US ballerina. She was the daughter of Diaghilev dancer Lydia Krassovska and trained with Preobrajenska and Legat in Russia before moving to the USA and continued to study and the School of American Ballet. Under the name of Nathalie Leslie she danced with Ida Rubinstein's Company at the Paris Opera, and Nijinska's Ballet Russe in 1932. George Balanchine offered to choreograph a ballet for her when she was dancing with his Les Ballets 1933. After retiring she taught ballet in Dallas, Texas and formed a company of her students helping to raise $850,000 toward a construction project for the St. Seraphim Orthodox Church in Dallas. "I want to teach until I die," she once said. Died due to complications of surgery
