Robert H. Brokaw, age 89 of Kenosha, died on Friday, June 28, 2013, with his loving family by his side at Clare Bridge of Kenosha. Born in Litchfield, Ill., on Dec. 4, 1923, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Josephine (Self) Brokaw. He moved to Kenosha as a child and was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School. During WWII, from Jan. 16, 1943, until his honorable discharge on Jan. 10, 1946, Bob honorably served our country as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corp. He participated in battles at Cape Gloucester and Talasea, New Britain; Peleliu, Palau Islands; and Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands. On Sept. 18, 1948 at First Congregational Church, he was united in marriage to Natalie Vogt.
For 30 years, Bob was employed as a line foreman with the Wisconsin Electric Company, retiring in 1983. Prior to his military service, Bob was employed at American Brass Company. Bob was a member of the former Elks Lodge #750 in Kenosha and the Danish Brotherhood Lodge #14 in Kenosha. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, and bowling. Bob also loved watching the Cubs, Packers and golf. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Natalie; his daughter, Kim (Larry) Kexel; his granddaughter, Elizabeth; his sister, Virginia Augustine; and his loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Arlene Cunningham. A Memorial Service in celebration of Bobs life will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Private inurnment will take place in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. A gathering of relatives and friends will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, July 6th from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to the Wisconsin Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1120 James Dr., Ste. A., Hartland, WI 53029, would be appreciated. Bobs family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staffs of both Hospice Alliance, Inc., and Clare Bridge Assisted Living for the outstanding care given to their husband, dad, and grandpa.
