George D Docteur, 75, of 350 Hunt street. retired operator of the municipal pump
station died at 7 10 this morning in the House of the Good Samaritan after a long Illness. He had been a patient in the hospital since Monday. Death resulted from a lung ailment
Mr. Docteur had been ill intermittently for about five years having undergone at major operation for à stomach ailment in February 1962. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lily B Gray Docteur. Five children. George W. Docteur 348 Hunt street. Mrs. Lloyd G (Elizabeth M Woodruff, Watertown Copenhagen. Mrs. Arthur D. (Lily Bell) Foster. Buffalo. Mrs Harry D Beatrice M Wheeler. 391 Hunt street. and Mrs. Harland F. Louise GI Davis.
town of Pamelia. 18 grand-children, ten great-grandchildren. Three brothers and Three sisters, Ralph C. John M and Fred J Docteur. Mrs. Agnes Lawrence and Mrs. Gerald Melrose Pelow. Cape Vincent. and Mrs. Elizabeth Reff, Gouverneur.
Mr. Docteur was born March 14. 1891, at Cape Vincent, a son of Alfred and May Delaney Docteur. A farmer in early life, he lived at Cape Vincent until he moved to this city in 1911.
He married Miss Lily D Gray of Harrisville in this city on Sept 29, 1914. At one time Mr. Docteur was employed by Clarence Sheley, ice dealer. delivering ice From Sept 16. 1916, to Oct. 6. 1917. He was an employee of the city. He had been in the ice business for himself at different times and had been a
business partner of James Gray and John Martin He returned to the employ of the city Dec. 11. 1926, and continuously thereafter until he retired June 30, 1960- nearly 35 years later he was employed in the water department as a pump station operator.
Since his retirement, he and his son operated a small, farm on Hunt street He was an active member of the local post of the Dads of Foreign Wars, having served as its president.
