Irene Drechsler LaQuerre, 96, wife of thirty–eight years to Robert L. LaQuerre Sr., died on Monday, June 17, 2013 peacefully in her sleep at home after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her first husband, Stanley E. Drechsler in 1956. Born in South Meriden, she was the daughter of the late Ignatius and Eva (Magdelinski) Sobolewski. She was a graduate of Meriden High School. Mrs. LaQuerre was employed as the secretary at St. Joseph Church from 1959 to 1996. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Church and a member of the St. Joseph Rosary Society and the Meriden Council of Catholic Women. Mrs. LaQuerre enjoyed gardening and sewing. She was a woman of great faith and was always there for those in need and shared what she had.
Besides her husband Robert, she will be lovingly remembered by two daughters, Joy (Richard) Dondero of Clinton and Mary Drechsler of Meriden; two sons, Mark (Dottie) Drechsler of Southington, and Jerry (Faith) Drechsler of Westbrook; one stepson, Robert (Stella) LaQuerre, Jr. of New Britain; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters, six brothers, a stepson, James D. LaQuerre and a dear grandson, Michael T. Dondero.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Wendy Anderson for the loving care she gave to Irene.
Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church 22 Goodwill Avenue, Meriden for a Mass of Christian Burial. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Joseph Church, 22 Goodwill Avenue, Meriden, CT 06451
