Perry Linward Deskins

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - Perry Linward Deskins, 84, of Sevierville, formerly of Raven, Va., went home to be with the Lord Sunday, July 10, 2005 at his home.

Born Aug. 12, 1920 in Tazewell County, Va., he was the son of the late Boyd Alexander and Barbara Byrd Deskins.

He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, he was a retired coal miner for 43 years. He was a member of Gatlinburg Church of God.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Charlie, Avery, James and Ramey Quinton Deskins; and four sisters, Ruth Mitchell, Ethel Rakes, Pansy Day and Audrey Smith.

He is survived by three sons, Ralph Wayne Deskins of Richlands, Lester Deskins and wife, Renda of Sevierville, and Harold Deskins and wife, Susie of Raven; three sisters, Phyllis Blount and husband, Frank of Byron, Ga., Connie Bandy and husband, Arnold of St. Augustine, Fla., and Opal McKinney of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, Va., with Rev. Eddie Hess and Mr. Dink McGhee officiating. Burial will follow in the Ball Cemetery at Road Ridge, Va. Pallbearers will be Dink McGhee, Shannon Hess, Kevin Short, Oris Martin, Ronnie Hess, Tim Noel, Thomas Price and Kenneth Garber.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Va.
