He was born on January 13, 1946, in Massillon, Ohio and he was a local area resident since 1974, when he moved here from Canton, Ohio. Gregory was a Catholic, served in the US Navy and United States Coast Guard and a member of the FOP (Fraternal Order of Police).
He is preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Elizabeth (Henderson) Chapman and a son, Scott Chapman.
He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Tanya Chapman of Clearwater, Florida; four sons: Gregory P. Chapman Jr. of Massillon, Ohio; Jonathan of California; Nathan Crain of Brandon, Florida; Kory Crain of Clearwater, Florida; a daughter, Wendy Kaman and her husband, Eric of Ohio; three grandchildren, who Tanya and he are raising: Jada Crain, Jazlyn Crain and Jenica Crain; a sister, Kelly Chapman of Zephyrhills, Florida;and seven additional grandchildren: Arianna Crain, Sophia Crain, Taylor Burnell-Crain, Amethyst Burrell-Crain, Kristopher Chapman, Jeremay Kaman and James Kaman.
Service is 10:30 AM Friday, September 6, 2013 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513 with the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard and the Pinellas County Sheriff Office, officiating.
