Mrs. Mattie Fox
Mrs. Mattie Fox, 77, 945 Park Ave., a Beloit resident for the past 46 years, died Saturday morning in the Beloit hospital. The former Mattie Armstrong was born march 29, 1876, in Darlington, Wisc., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Armstrong. She was married there in October, 1906, at the Holy Rosary Catholic church. Mr. Fox died in 1950.
She was a charter member of the Catholic Woman's club, a member of St. Thomas Catholic church and the Altar and Rosary societies.
Surviving are three daughters, Julia Fox, Beloit, Alice Fox, Madison, Mrs. Mary Felling, San Francisco; a great nephew, Donald A. Smith, who resided with Mrs. Fox; two brothers, Charles and George Armstrong, both in Darlington; three sisters, Mrs. Josie Howe, Beloit, Mrs. Alice Steffes Minneapolis, and Mrs. Clara Riley, Mineral point, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 8:45 am Tuesday in the E.A. Daley funeral home and at 9 am in St. Thomas Catholic church, with Rev. T.A. O'Reilly officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 tonight at the mortuary.
