BARRE - Jeannette M. Thompson, 79, died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, July 8, at St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St. in Barre.

BARRE - Jeannette Mary (LeBlanc) Thompson, 79, of High Holborn Street, died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.

Born on June 18, 1934, in Barre, she was the daughter of Albini and Rosa (Boulerice) LeBlanc. She attended St. Monica Elementary School and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1952.

On October 22, 1955, Jeannette married Bernard L. Thompson in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. They have always made their home in Barre. They both enjoyed spending their winters in Cocoa Beach, Florida, for the past 16 years.

Jeannette's family was most important to her. As a homemaker, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking (always), crafts, and taking care of her grandchildren. Family gatherings were especially important to her and always a highlight in her life. She took pleasure in attending the sporting and other activities that her children and grandchildren participated in. An excellent seamstress, she had worked for Elizabeth Mansfield in her early years.

A member of St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre, her other memberships included the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Monica and the Ladies of the Knights of Columbus.

She is survived by her husband, Bernard Thompson of Barre; her eight children, Robert Thompson and his wife, Paola, of Belmont, MA, James Thompson and his wife, Peggy, of Orange, Donna Gingras and her husband, Duane, of Williamstown, Larry Thompson and his wife, Micky of Barre, Alan Thompson of Moriah, NY, Rose Thompson of Barre, Roger Thompson and his wife, Deb, of Colchester, and Ann Baker and her husband, Brian, of Brookfield; her 16 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeremy, and Joann Thompson, Nathan and Megan Gingras, Sara, Steven, Patrick, and Matthew Thompson, Ciara Thompson, Isabella and Sophia Thompson, Kristen, Jessica, and Emily Thompson, and Blake Baker; one great-grandchild, Ryan Thompson; one sister, Lorraine Bisson and her husband, Roger, of Barre; two brothers, Tom LeBlanc and his wife, Nancy, of Barre and Raymond LeBlanc and his wife, Nancy, of Barre and a sister-in-law, Joyce LeBlanc, of Barre; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Joe LeBlanc, and her daughter-in-law, Pam Thompson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. Interment will follow in the Hope Cemetery in Barre. Family and friends may call on Sunday at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre from 6 to 8 p.m.

BARRE - The Mass of Christian burial for Jeannette M. Thompson, 79, of High Holborn Street, was celebrated on Monday, July 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. She died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.

The Rev. Leopold Bilodeau, pastor of the church, was the celebrant. Crucifer Fred Letourneau was the altar server and led the Prayer of the Faithful.

Organist Rosemary Badeau accompanied fellow vocalists Sinead O'Mahoney and Ronald Routhier in the hymns, "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art," "Gentle Woman," "Song of Farewell" and "On Eagle's Wings."

Words of remembrance were offered by Jeannette's daughter Rose Thompson, who also read tributes written by daughter Donna Gingras and grandchildren Nathan and Megan Gingras.

Readings from the Old and New Testament were by her sons Alan Thompson and Robert Thompson.

The offertory gifts were presented at the altar by daughter Ann Baker and grandchildren Blake Baker, Kristen, Jessica, Emily, Isabella, Sophia and Ryan Thompson.

Interment took place in the Hope Cemetery in Barre with the Rev. Bilodeau offering the committal prayers. The bearers were sons James Thompson and Larry Thompson and grandsons Nathan Gingras, Steven Thompson, Patrick Thompson and Matthew Thompson.

Following the committal, family and friends gathered at the Knights of Columbus in Barre Town for a time of sharing and a luncheon.

Father Bilodeau led a prayer vigil on Sunday evening at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre.
