Jackie ‘Jack' Ervin Crawford

Jackie "Jack" Ervin Crawford, 54, of Cool Ridge, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Raleigh General Hospital following a short illness.

He was born on September 21, 1958, in Beckley, a son to the late John Edward Crawford and Virginia Crawford Rutledge.

Jack had worked for the state road as a laborer years ago. When able, he attended the Fairview Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed shooting pool, fishing, and riding his motorcycle.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepfather, William "Bill" Rutledge; 4 sisters, Virginia Sue Berry, Frances Jewel Porter Walker, Rebecca Lee, and Jewel Crawford; and a brother, Johnny Edward Crawford; nephew, Christopher "Cricket" Crawford, who was the son of Carlos Crawford; and a niece, Erin Crawford, who was the daughter of Johnny Crawford.

Survivors include a brother, Carlos Crawford of Shady Spring; sister, Rebecca Austin and husband Thomas of Cool Ridge; nieces and nephews, Thomas Austin and Kimberly Austin (Daniels) of Shady Spring, Aireona Porter (Hutchens), Blaine Porter and Jarrod and Jordon Peters of Cool Ridge, Rick and Jason Crawford formerly of Shady Spring and Jeff Berry formerly of Beckley; great-nieces and nephews include Megan, Jonathan, Gavin, and Garrett Austin, Kristen Crawford, and Zoey and Joseph (J.R.) Hutchens; great-great-niece, Deliah Mullens; and a host of other family and friends.

Services to celebrate the life of Jack will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the Rose and Quesenberry Shady Spring Chapel with Pastor Charlie Tilley officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.

Pallbearers will be Delano Walker, Tex Hornsby, Carl Buckland, Joey Hutchens, Travis Bolen, and Gary Smith.

Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
