PARKS – Harold E. Jr. "Hip," 83, Wesley Chapel, went to be with his Lord and Savior July 4, 2013, at Golden Living Center. Born Dec. 22, 1929, in East Conemaugh Borough, son of Harold E. Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth (Ochenrider) Parks. Preceded in death by parents; wife, JoAnne (Cislo) Parks; and sister, Roberta Wilson. Survived by his loving children, Bernice, wife of Jeffrey Varner, Portage; Robert, married to the former Christine Layton, Wesley Chapel; Margaret "Peggy" Parks, Wesley Chapel; James, and his special friend, Michael Manning, Titusville, Fla.; and Barry (Cindy), Woodvale; grandchildren, Dr. Jeffrey Varner, married to the former Brandy Price, Denver, Colo.; Nicholas Varner, Portage; Robert Parks Jr., and special friend, Krista, Pittsburgh; Jesse Parks, and special friend, Ashley, East Conemaugh; Garrett Parks, Johnstown; and Toby Parks, Woodvale; great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Issac, Olivia, Noah and Meadow; brother, William "Bill" Parks, Leheighton, Pa.; ex-daughter-in-law, Christine (Horner) Bailey, Johnstown; several nephews; and many friends. Hip was a graduate of Conemaugh Valley High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean War. Hip retired from Bethlehem Steel, Wheel Plant. He was an active member of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren. Past member of Vinco Brethren Church, where he served many years as a deacon. Hip also was a member of Jackson Township Senior Center. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, JoAnne, out west. Hip was well-known for his "gift of gab and storytelling." Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Monday at Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, the Rev. Michael Christine, officiating.
