Erma E. Anderson, age 93, of Albert City, Iowa died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City.

Erma Elizabeth Anderson, the daughter of John August and Annie Elizabeth (Johanson) Anderson was born on a farm near Albert City, Iowa on November 13, 1919. Due to health complications, Erma was baptized on November 15, 1919. She was later confirmed in the Lutheran faith on July 7, 1935. Erma lived her youth and received her education at Albert City, graduating from the 8th grade.

Erma was employed as a housekeeper for her neighbors and also worked in the Anderson Grocery Store in Albert City. Beginning in 1948, Erma worked for the next 30 years as the financial secretary of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She also used her financial abilities by serving as treasurer for the local school board. Among her other accomplishments was being the secretary for the Albert City Chamber of Commerce. The mayor of Albert City proclaimed Sunday, May 20, 1979, as "Erma Anderson Day" in recognition of her outstanding dedication to the betterment of Albert City. Since March 21, 2008 Erma has made her home at the Pleasant View Home.

Erma was a faithful and devoted member of the Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City where in addition to her secretarial duties, she taught Sunday School for many years. She touched many lives by serving as a prayer warrior for missions. Her many hobbies and talents included feeding the birds, taking care of many cats, enjoying coffee with the "girls", helping with clubs within the church, prayer calendars, year books, programs, and special announcements. Erma will be remembered by her family and friends as being such a kind lady and always being so friendly to everyone. Her desire was to be helpful where she could and Erma always appreciated everything anyone did for her.

Erma is survived by her relatives and lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
