Mrs. Annie M. Carroll, 68, a native of Barnwell County but a resident of Columbia for the past 12 years, died at 10:30 yesterday morning at the Baptist Hosptial following an illness of several weeks.
Mrs. Carroll made her home at 1524 Henderson Street.
She was born in Barnwell County in 1885, the daughter of Journ and Jane E. Birt. She was a member of the Long Branch Baptist Church in Barnwell County, but had attended the First Baptist Church since moving to Columbia.
Survivors include three daughters, Miss Mary Carroll of Columbia, Mrs. Warren J. Beckley of Smyrna, Ga., and Mrs. Robert A. Nelson of Charleston; five sons Carl Carroll of Columbia, Jackson H. Carroll, W. J. Carroll, Jerome J. Carroll, and Arlie Carroll all of Charleston; 13 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30pm this afternoon from the McCormick Funeral Home chapel by Dr. P. Archie Ellie, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Jowers Cemetery in Barnwell County.
Active pallbearers will be Carl Locklair, E. R. Fallaw, F. P. Coley, W. W. Bennett, J. H. Davis and C. W. Hall."
