OBIT: Lelia Sanders PENICK, 85, native of Taylor County, KY, died on Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at her home in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY. Daughter of the late John Paul SANDERS and Mary Louise Coffey SANDERS, she was born on July 8, 1918 in Taylor County, KY. She was married October 17, 1936, to William Clayton PENICK, Jr., who preceded her in death. She was a member of Shively Christian Church and was a homemaker. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Martha Penick LAMKIN and Robert Dane LAMKIN, of Louisville, KY; one son and daughter-in-law, William Cabell PENICK and Judith Stevenson PENICK, of Louisville; four sisters, Mary Lucy Sanders SLINKER and her husband Herman SLINKER of Louisville, KY; Dorothy Sanders CARLE and her husband Robert CARLE of Hot Springs, AR; Helen Sanders LYONS and her husband Richard E. LYONS of Louisville, KY; and Marian Sanders ACREE and her husband Edwin Ray ACREE of Greensburg, KY. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Lisa Lamkin CASSELL and Robin Marie LAMKIN both of Louisville, KY; and Laura Lamkin POLSON of Murfreesboro, Tennesee; eight great-grandchildren, Brooke Polson HAGER, Devin Thomas CASSELL, Morgan Elizabeth POLSON, Daniel Robert CASSELL, Joshua Dane POLSON, Olivia Kathryn CASSELL, Leah Marie TARTER, and Rachel Jade LAMKIN. Funeral service was Friday, March 19, 2004, at the Owen Funeral Home in Louisville, KY. The Rev. Rob GRANDI and the Rev. Mark JOHNSON officiated. Burial was in the Louisville Memorial Gardens in Shively, KY.
