Harriet Jane Andrews, age 97, a native of Brillion, passed away at Rennes Health Center in De Pere, where she was a resident for 14 years.
Miss Andrews was born June 30, 1906, to one of Brillion’s founding families. Her grandparents emigrated from England in the 1800’s and settled in Brillion, where they opened a general store on Main Street. Her parents continued the family business tradition for many years at the same location. Early in her career, Miss Andrews worked as a social reporter for the Brillion News, Appleton Post Crescent, Green Bay Press Gazette, Chilton Times Journal and the Manitowoc Herald Times. Later, she served as business manager for the Andrews Oil Co., in Green Bay for 30 years until her retirement in 1972. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Green Bay for many years.
She is survived by a niece; Athlyn Andrews Woolley of Colleyville, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, R.D.O. and Louise Andrews; a sister, LaVerne M. Haller; a brother, Dale F. Andrews; and a nephew, Dale W. Andrews.
Funeral service will be held at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion. Burial will be in the Brillion City Cemetery.
