Deceased Name: William James Norville Jr.
William James "Bill" Norville Jr., a former teacher, died Tuesday at a local hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 79.
Norville was a resident of Mobile.
He was a Jesuit for 30 years and taught in New Orleans and Tampa, Fla. He was also executive director of Press Park Apartments in New Orleans.
In Mobile, he was active in the Lion's Club and was a founding member of the Mobile Lions Sight First. He worked with Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA), Habitat for Humanity, Laubach Literacy and the American Red Cross.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Schrieber Norville; and two sisters, Ann Norville Dacovich and Rosemary Norville Harrison, all of Mobile.
Visitation will be today at Little Flower Catholic Church on Government Street from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, with Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street directing.
