Mama Cat was born underneath my bed while we were all away for the day. As soon as she could walk she came stomping out from where we had moved the litter and clawed her way right up my pant leg and into my heart. She never left my side.Along with Rex T. Cheewah, my chihuahua, she was my constant companion through my teenage years. We separated only once when I enlisted. When I came home, she was back on my lap in a heartbeat. Her calm, imperturbable demeanor was a counter-balance to my more excitable personality, and I like to think I learned all I know about patience from her.In 2004 she suffered a debilitating stroke and I had to do what I never wanted to do. I miss her too much for words.
