Parents: John Kirsch and Florence Reyman Kirsch.

She married Norris Johnson on November 25, 1937, in Minnesota. They moved their family to Sutherlin, in 1951, where they remained until 2010 when Norris passed and Dorothy moved to her daughter's home in Roseburg.

Dorothy retired from Champion International. She was very active in the Sutherlin Senior Center and with The Umpqua Fisherman's Association. Dorothy loved to play cards, she and Norris played gin everyday for years. She bowled into her 80s, and she also enjoyed knitting, needle work, quilting, and trips to the casino. It is certain that, in all of her years, she never met anyone who found anything to dislike about her. She was a devoted wife and a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and in-law. She never issued a single guilt-trip in her entire life. "Thank you Mom."

Dorothy passed away with her daughter Janet and niece Eileen by her side.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norris.

Upon hearing of her passing, one niece wrote, "I have such a fantastic vision in my mind of Uncle Norris greeting Aunt Dorothy with open arms, twinkling eyes, a big smile, and a song. She is embracing him with a strong, healthy body, and a subtle funny comment."

She was also preceded in death by her son, Larry in 2010; her only grandson, Larry Jr. in 2012; and in years prior, by a baby daughter, Barbara; her parents; three of her sisters: Lucile Beavers; Helen Nanik; and Ruthe Palmer; three sisters-in-law; and five brothers-in-law.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet (Roy) Palmer; daughter-in-law, Shirley (Larry-deceased) Johnson; granddaughter-in-law, Janet (Larry Jr.-deceased) Johnson; and great-grandchildren: Lynnesy and Bo Johnson; a very special niece, Eileen (Don) Cotnam; sisters: Darlene (Clyde) Weappa; and Geraldine (Marvin) Hepola; and brother, Eldon (Millie-deceased) Kirsch; six brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law; two step-grandsons and their wives and their four children; as well as many more nieces; nephews; and cousins/cousins-in-law.

You are invited to attend her memorial service at the Sutherlin Senior Center on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 3 p.m.
