Melvin B. Hawkins, age 89, passed away Thursday March 14, 2013 at Outlook Manor. He was a founding member of the St. James the Less Parish and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 31 years. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps European Theatre.
He was Preceded in death by his wife Mary Catherine O'Reilly Hawkins and son Msgr. Stephen Hawkins.
Survivors include by sons Deacon Mickey (Patty), Mark (Joanne), and Jeff (Wendy) Hawkins; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Ramona Hawkins and Eileen O'Reilly; brother-in-law Dave (Susie) O'Reilly; Diane Hawkins; many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday at the St. James the Less Church. Burial followed at Resurrection Cemetery.
The Egan-Ryan funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
