Clara and her twin sister, Wilma,
were born Sept. 7, 1905, in
O'Brien County northwest of
Germantown to Ludwig and Louisa
(Pauling) Beermann. She was
baptized Sept. 15, 1905, by Rev.
Potratz of St. John Lutheran
Church, Germantown. She was
confirmed May 4, 1919, by Rev.
Steger at St. John. She attended the
parochial school there. After
confirmation, she went to work for
a mother with a sick baby. She
continued in this vocation in the
Marcus and Germantown areas.
She married Orville Rohlfsen
Sept. 6, 1925. The couple farmed
26 years. They moved to Paullma
in 1952. They joined St. Peter
Lutheran Church Sept. 11, 1967.
Clara was active in the church
organizations of St. John,
Germantown; Zion, Paullina; and
St. Peter, Newell. She was a
charter member of the St. John's
Ladies' Aid. She was active in
many other community clubs, as
well.
She lived in her Newell home
until April 1993 when she and
Orville moved to the Pleasant View
Nursing Home, Albert City.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; two brothers — Arthur and
Walter, and four sisters — Fneda,
Amanda, Hulda, and her twin,
Wilma.

Funeral services were held for Clara S. Rohlfsen, Saturday, Nov. 12,1994 at 11. a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Newell. Pastor Robert L. Bruer officiated. Attendants were Larry Kischer, Wayne Kischer, Darwin Rohlfsen, Bill Rohlfsen, Todd Rohlfsen, Brad Rohlfsen, Brett Rohlfsen, and Chad Rohlfsen.

Burial was in Newell Cemetery with Farber & Otteman Funeral Homes in charge of services.

Clara was born with her twin sister Wilma, Sept 7, 1905, to Ludwig and Louisa (Pauling) Beermann. She was born in the farmhouse one and one-half miles northwest of Germantown. She was the youngest of seven children. She was baptized Sept 15, 1905, by the Rev. Potratz of St. John Lutheran Church, Germantown.

Clara was confirmed, at age 13, May 4, 1919, by the Rev. Steger at St. John. She attended the parochial school there. After confirmation, she went to work for a mother with a sick baby. She continued in this vocation in the Marcus and Germantown area. She married Orville Rohlfsen Sept 6, 1925.

Clara was a busy homemaker caring their family of six, her parents, and later, her mother and live-in hired man. The couple farmed 26 years. They moved to Paullina in 1952. They joined St. Peter Sept 11,1967. Clara was active in the church organizations of St. John, Germantown, Zion, Paullina, and St. Peter, Newell. She was a charter member of the St. John's Ladies Aid. She was active in many other community clubs as well.

She lived in her Newell home until April 1993 when she and Orville moved to the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City. She died at the Pleasant View Nursing Home Thursday, Nov. 10, 1994.

Survivors include: her husband Orville; children and spouses: Elaine and Melvin Kischer, Newell; Laverne and Mary Rohlfsen, Grafton; Orlen and Phyllis Rohlfsen, Newell; Dr. Donald and Miriam Rohlfsen, Des Moines; grandchildren and
spouses: Larry and Eunice Kischer, Des Moines; Wayne Kischer, Honolulu, HI; Shirley Babe, Rolla, MO; Margaret and Jay Tatman, Graettinger, Dar and Ann Rohlfsen, Mason City; Bill and Renne Rohlfsen, Rockwell; Todd and Nettie Rohlfsen, Jessup; Robin Rohlfsen, Slater; Brad & Darlene Rohlfsen, Omaha; Gail and David Gregory, Littleton, CO; Brett Rohlfsen, Des Moines; Sara Rohlfsen, North Hollywood, CA; Chad Rohlfsen, Davenport; and 20 great-grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren and one step great-great-granddaughter and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Arthur and Walter, sisters Frieda, Amanda, Hulda, and twin Wilma.
