Harriet E. (nee Christensen) (Betts) Palle, 99
Harriet E. (Betts) Palle, 99, of Blair, died on Friday, February 1, 2013, at Good Shepherd Village in Blair.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Visitation will be Thursday beginning at 2 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.
Harriet E. Christensen was born January 23, 1914, in Fyn, Denmark, to Hans Edvard and Karen Magrethe (Hansen) Christensen.
She immigrated to the United States with her parents and two brothers in November of 1918 prior to the birth of her sister.
The family lived in the Blair area and she attended grade school at Maney, Orum and Cuming City schools.
She began working in Blair in 1936, and worked at various places.
On June 29, 1940, she married Elmer “Slim” Betts in Tekamah. He preceded her in death in 1973.
On April 16, 1983, she married Morris Palle in Blair. He preceded her in death in 2006.
In 1982, she retired after working more than 20 years in the Washington County Treasurer's Office as a clerk.
Mrs. Palle was a member of First Lutheran Church in Blair, the Danish Brotherhood Lodge 206, and a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 3215.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, son and daughter-in-law; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 2 stepchildren and their spouses; 2 step-grandchildren and spouse; 2 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Elmer Betts and Morris Palle; brothers, Harold and Tage; sister, Venda Jahnel; and infant sister and brother.
Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church, the Blair Rescue Squad or Good Shepherd Lutheran Community.
